A majority of us possess a wrong or limited idea of distance education universities. Until now, I also had such a notion. What belief? We think of universities making available distance education as a distant school. In fact, that is correct but that is not the complete story. I was particularly marveling lately when I found a university in my state offering distance education. That changed my complete point of view of the subject matter. This means that it is no longer a far-away school, college or university. It could also be a school around you. You don't catch it yet?
Investment banks has fallen, national banks have betrayed our trust, government actions in majority of countries around the world are being frowned upon by the people (examples include the Gaza war, the Wall street bailout which is a bailout for the rich while the main street suffers the burden) and you just don't know who the heck to trust anymore. Since you can't put you faith in Uncle Sam or whatever, you put your trust on institutions of higher education, universities, polytechnics and others. The role of contemporary universities is currently experiencing tremendous change due to the advancements in technology. Today, it is not just a matter of sound administrative decisions made by institutions, but rather a global realization that e-learning is a dynamically growing industry. Undergraduate and graduate students demand their universities to provide them with the latest technological tools available, so as to increase their efficiency ratios, elevate the quality of their studies, and acquire the needed business skills, which will later help them find the job of their dreams.
